Hello backpacker friends,
this time I want to share again about the trip to New Zealand yesterday.
Because many have asked,
sorry if you missed DM, here is the itinerary of yesterday's trip to the South
Island, here, all sharing:
South Island
Day 1
Arrive in Christchurch at 10pm. Stay at Sudima AirPort which is only 5
minutes from AirPort. Deliberately take it around there because it is
close to the campervan depot. If you can recommend it, if you don't bring
a small child, stay at Jucy Snooze Hotel, it's cheaper and the concept is
cute. Suitable for those who thrive. Rich hostel but big
enough. There are capsules, bunk beds, and ordinary rooms. If I bring
a rich kid I want to try that but it doesn't quite fit . At night
when I want to make milk, you have to go to the public kitchen first to get hot
water 🤪.
Day 2.
Christchurch - Tekapo
We originally asked to pick up the campervan, but in fact the hotel offered to
deliver. At 10.30 we walked to the campervan depot. Fill in the form,
introduce the campervan, watch the video, this is it, etc. Finally we were able
to walk at 12san.
Learn from our experience,
if possible don't oversleep to the depot, 9 o'clock is the ideal time, because
it takes about 1 hour or more here. Plus we have to shop and have lunch,
yesterday we were included in the "afternoon" because it only started
around 2 o'clock. Passing for the road, because at 5 pm the sun had already set
and many beautiful views were missed .
Oh yes, we do have to find
the route ourselves, we only need to find it on the GPS and the road. From
the results of browsing browsing, we finally decided to go around
counterclockwise and started from the tekapo.
If you can, don't trust GPS. If you say 2 hours is definitely more,
because GPS forgot, we would have stopped taking photos a lot.
Christchurch - Tekapo on GPS is about 3 hours more, but we arrive at a total of
4.5 hours because there are many stops to admire the scenery and the photo for
sure.
In Tekapo we stay at Tekapo Holiday Park, pay 95 dollars for 6. I don't know
whether we can boong it or not, actually we didn't even check how many people,
we stayed in a campervan anyway, but honestly it's better, right? .
Day 3.
Lake Tekapo - Lake Pukaki - Arrowtown
Around Lake Tekapo, there are several places that are commonly visited, such as
the church beside the lake, The Church of the good shepherd, the dog statue
near the church and enjoying Lake Tekapo itself. Cost: free, free parking
Continue the 40 minute journey to Lake Pukaki
Stop for lunch at Waitaki MacKenzie campingsite and have a beautiful coffee
here. For those who want freecamping (just pay for donations) this is a
really good spot.
Continue walking again (can be tried-optional) there is a scenic spot called
Clay Cliff . Privately owned property, pay 5 dollars when you enter
the yard and the road is gravel but the view is incredible.
Continue via Lindis Pass (one of the scenic roads). Must stop making
photos in the middle of the street (must do). Many places for photo stops
along the Lindis Pass. Don't be afraid to run out of photo spots. Arriving
at Arrowtown Kemaleman 06.30 Hours Finally, continue another 20 minutes until
Queenstown. Stay at the Holiday Park, costs 90 dollars
Day 4
Queenstown - Te Anau
Since the plan to Milford Sound is more than 4 Hours, then we are halfway
through . We go to Te Anau (half way to Milford Soud, 3 hours drive.
Stop for lunch at a picnic spot by the lake (forgot the name of the lake)
And spend time around Te Anau
Stay at Te Anau lake view holiday park. Cost 76 dollars,
Option: If want, can go to glowworm
Day 5
Te Anau - Milford Sound - Queenstown2.5 Hour trip so more Because of many "must" stop places:
Mirror Lake, Monkey Creek, Te Anau Downs photo spot, Eglinton Valley, Lake Gunn (like mirror lake but have to walk first around Set Clock, can carry a stroller), homer tunnel.
Most of them are on the left side of the road so it's nice to visit in the direction of Milford Sound.
Milford Sound itself by ferry for 1.5 hours. Must go have .
